In this thesis we study the atomic spectrum in two parts. The first one was performed a spectroscopic analysis used for more than 70 years ago, while and the second step one was used a spectroscopic technique that allows assessing newer plasma parameters using spectral lines of known elements. The first part of this thesis is based on analyzing the atomic emission spectra for the ion BrI V . In this sense we present the results of analysis of the isoelectronic sequence for the configurations 4s24p4d e 4s24p5p. We also conducted compared between theoretical calculations and values of energy levels already published. To the theoretical predictions of en- ergy levels
were used programs developed by Dr. Robert D. Cowan (COWAN, 1919). Observe any outliers for various energy levels of the configurations studied, as well as indicators of set- tings that need complete overhaul experimental. In the second stage of this thesis are dedicated to determining plasma parameters generated by laser, in this sense we use the standard theory of H. R. Griem (GRIEM, 1964), which is in stark enlargement and Hα Hβ lines, these lines frequently used in “Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS)”for evaluating the electron density of the plasma. In this experiment we use an Nd: YAG laser (Model NG24, manufac- turer Quantel). The results of this analysis were completed with the comparisons of the Hα and Hβ lines of the Balmer series (GRIEM et al., 2005). This second stage of the dissertation was conducted at the Laboratory of Plasma Physics Institute of Universidade Federal Fluminense (IF - UFF) under the supervision of Dr. Fa´bio de Oliveira Borges, this project is part of the actions envisaged in the Project 552498 / 2011-4 PROCAD / CNPq, which allowed two visits to IF - UFF totaling 123 days. |
