For this, we used the content analysis method (CA) whose task was performed in subsequent steps, but in a dialectical process. The first stage of the research was the pre- exploration of the material on websites; the second, the election of units of analysis (or units of meanings) that were organized at the clipping level with the selection of sentences, sen- tences or paragraphs; The third phase consisted of the categorization and subcategorization of the reports that finally outlined the research path. The contribution of the theories of Social Representation, migration and the media were fundamental to the analytical process. Thus, the results indicated that the social representation performed by the newspapers reproduce stereo- types and stigmas, and above all, stimulate and reinforce the processes of rejection and denial of the “other” contributing to generate a climate of permanent conflict in local society. From the point of view of the comments it could be inferred that there is a lack of conformity re- garding the entry and presence of Venezuelan migrants in Roraima, which in turn causes a distinctive deepening of cultural relations on the border between Brazil and Venezuela, as well as the unmasking Roraima, as well as Brazil, as a “cordial”, receptive state and the city of Boa Vista as “city with open arms” (city hall slogan). O objeto dessa dissertação são as representações sociais sobre a migração e os migrantes ve-nezuelanos construídas a partir das reportagens publicadas no período de 2016 a 2017 nos jornais, versão online, Folha de Boa Vista e Folha de São Paulo, bem como os discursos re- produzidos pelos seus leitores. Para isso, utilizou-se o método de análise de conteúdo (AC) cuja tarefa foi realizada em etapas subsequentes, mas em um processo dialético. A primeira etapa da pesquisa foi a da pré-exploração do material nos websites; a segunda, a seleção das unidades de análise (ou unidades de significados) que foram organizadas em nível de recorte com a seleção de sentenças, frases ou parágrafos; a terceira fase consistiu-se na categorização e subcategorização das reportagens que, por fim delinearam o caminho da pesquisa. O aporte das teorias da Representação Social, da migração e da mídia foram fundamentais para o pro- cesso analítico. Dessa forma, os resultados apontaram que a representação social realizada pelos jornais reproduzem estereótipos e estigmas, e sobretudo, estimulam e reforçam os pro- cessos de rechaço e negação do “outro” contribuindo para gerar um clima de conflito perma- nente na sociedade local. Sob a ótica dos comentários pôde-se depreender que, há um incon- formismo diante da entrada e presença dos migrantes venezuelanos em Roraima, o que por sua vez, causa um aprofundamento distintivo das relações culturais na fronteira entre Brasil e Venezuela, bem como o desmascaramento de Roraima, assim como o Brasil, como um estado “cordial”, receptivo e da cidade de Boa Vista como “cidade de braços abertos” (slogan da pre- feitura). 2019-11-21T15:56:22Z 2019-11-21T15:56:22Z 2019 Dissertação MOTA, Daniele Monteiro.
