For a long time, the historiographical productions excluded people considered without history or companies not whetted the interest of traditional historiography, however, the course of the years, we realized that there was a change in the interests of historians, who introduced new themes in their research related sciences human. This process did there was a change in the production of novel historiography that will influence and change the current teaching of history. Such changes have occurred particularly in the second half of the twentieth century. Coupled with the intense social movements of resistance formed by indigenous representatives, will change the position of the law, which in turn will make mandatory the teaching of history and indigenous culture to all students of basic education in the Brazilian state. In this way, we intend to discuss in this paper the results of field research carried out by ethnography developed in the school environment, with analysis of school documents and interviews with history teachers. O presente trabalho pretende discutir como estão sendo desenvolvidas as temáticas relacionadas a história e cultura indígenas, ministradas por meio da disciplina de história, na Escola Estadual Professora Maria das Dores Brasil, em Boa Vista/RR, pois percebemos que por muitos anos, a imagem construída por meio de estereótipos no imaginário dos brasileiros, fez que com houvesse uma marginalização de algumas sociedades, como por exemplo, os povos indígenas. Por muito tempo, as produções historiográficas excluíram povos considerados sem história ou sociedades que não aguçavam o interesse da historiografia tradicional, porém, ao decorrer dos anos, percebemos que houve uma mudança nos interesses dos historiadores, que introduziram novas temáticas em suas pesquisas relacionadas as ciências humanas. Este processo fez que houvesse uma modificação na produção historiográfica que influenciou e modificou de forma incipiente o atual ensino de História. Tais mudanças ocorreram em especial na segunda metade do século XX. Somadas à intensos movimentos sociais de resistências, formados por representantes indígenas, acarretou em mudanças na legislação, que por sua vez tornou obrigatória o ensino da história e cultura indígena a todos os alunos do ensino básico no Estado brasileiro. Desta forma, pretendemos discutir neste trabalho o resultado da pesquisa de campo elaborada através da etnografia desenvolvida no ambiente escolar, com análise em documentos escolares e entrevistas com os professores de história. Como resultado, observamos graves problemas que são visíveis no ensino de história da escola Maria das Dores Brasil.
