This dissertation presents the evolution of the urban infrastructure of Boa Vista, especially that of basic sanitation and its correlation with local development. The objective was to examine the relationship between basic sanitation and levels of socioeconomic well-being and environmental sustainability, with the town of Boa Vista Roraima as a locus, from 2007 to 2017. The study of the theory of market failure and the theory of regulation, taking into account the concept of human development, as well as the history of sanitation and public policies aimed at the sector at national and local level, as well as the economic and social benefits of the expansion of sanitation in Boa Vista (RR). The discussions of the dissertation aimed to discuss the impact of sanitation on socioeconomic aspects and social welfare in the city of Boa Vista, capital of the State of Roraima. The overall objective of this study is to establish the relationship between basic sanitation and levels of socioeconomic well-being and environmental sustainability. For that, the analytical descriptive methodology was used, using the bibliographical and documentary revision, and the tabulation of data. Based on these studies, it was verified that there was an increase in the economy with investments in the area of sanitation, and simultaneously employment generation and a significant reduction in the number of water-borne diseases. The results obtained are important to support decision making and urban planning, linked to public policies. |
