Of the few libraries in Roraima that have bibliographic material on this topic, none can be considered a reference, as they still have a very shy collection. Therefore, for the construction, an attempt was made to map, through scientific publications, the indigenous peoples belonging to the State, as well as to identify the Indigenous Lands within the limits of the territory; then, some informational units that hold, organize and produce traditional indigenous knowledge were highlighted; list the principles, norms and legislation about Traditional Knowledge and Intellectual Property; as for the technological process, it was necessary to present the digital libraries and their variations, which were the basis for the development of new information and communication technologies; understand the movements that gave rise to digital repositories, to maintain their principles; and finally, to present and develop a thematic digital repository, whose tool is used in other segments, in order to preserve knowledge, guarantee the protection and access to information, in an easy and free way. Este estudo propõe a construção de uma base de dados técnico-científico e de memória cultural, com o objetivo de desenvolver um repositório digital de cunho cultural e científico que assegure a proteção da cultura e dos conhecimentos dos povos indígenas do estado de Roraima, além de permitir que seus saberes estejam ao alcance da sociedade global. Para o desenvolvimento, buscou-se mapear, através de publicações científicas, os povos indígenas pertencentes ao Estado, assim como as limitações territoriais; identificar algumas unidades informacionais detentoras e produtoras dos conhecimentos tradicionais indígenas; relacionar os princípios, normas e legislações acerca dos Conhecimentos Tradicionais com as da Propriedade Intelectual; quanto ao processo tecnológico, foi preciso apresentar as bibliotecas digitais e suas variações, as quais foram bases para o desenvolvimento das novas tecnologias da informação e comunicação; entender os movimentos que deram origem aos repositórios digitais, para manter seus princípios; e por fim, apresentar e desenvolver um repositório digital temático. Como resultado, foi produzido o “Repositório Digital Insikiran”, sob responsabilidade do Instituto Insikiran de Formação Superior Indígena, da Universidade Federal de Roraima, considerando a missão institucional e os objetivos do repositório de preservar o conhecimento, garantir a proteção e o acesso a informação, de forma fácil e livre, o qual acredita-se fidedignamente a perenidade do serviço.
