The main objective of the study was to analyze the contributions of Paulo Freire's thought to the teaching of visual art in an inclusive perspective. Regarding the specific objectives, the study proposes the identification of theoretical assumptions in Paulo Freire's works that would make it possible to think about inclusive education. As a study methodology, a qualitative bibliographic research was carried out, through data analysis proposed by Bardin. The investigation concludes by the observation that the teaching of visual arts contributes beyond the presentation of aesthetic knowledge to the student, but instigating and developing their critical and reflective sense, so that they can understand their own reality. In this sense, the role of liberating education proposed by Paulo Freire is fulfilled. It is understood by the need for equity in the inclusion of students with disabilities in regular education, so that their individualities can be met and reach their best development potential. O presente estudo versa sobre a importância da arte-educação e sua contribuição para a inclusão de pessoas com deficiência, através da reflexão proposta pelo pensamento freireano. O objetivo central do estudo foi analisar as contribuições do pensamento de Paulo Freire para o ensino de artes visuais numa perspectiva inclusiva. Já em relação aos objetivos específicos, o estudo propõe a identificação de pressupostos teóricos nas obras de Paulo Freire que possibilitasse pensar uma educação inclusiva. Como metodologia de estudo, foi realizada uma investigação bibliográfica qualitativa, através da análise de dados proposta por Bardin. A investigação conclui pela constatação de que o ensino de artes visuais contribui para além da apresentação do conhecimento estético ao aluno, instigando e desenvolvendo o senso crítico e reflexivo deste, para que possa compreender a própria realidade. Nesse sentido, cumpre-se o papel da educação libertadora proposta por Paulo Freire. Entende-se pela necessidade de equidade na inclusão de alunos com deficiência no ensino regular, para que as individualidades desses possam ser atendidas e alcancem seu melhor potencial de desenvolvimento.
