It is an ethnographic research, whose objective is to show how the Wapichana of the village Malacacheta, Moon's Saw region, Cantá municipality, Roraima state, people of the Arawak linguistic family, shape the perception of themselves through forms symbolic, so that the body can be thought of as the matrix of cultural symbols and forms an object of social significance. The proposal consists in problematizing how the polyphonic forms of nomination, that is, designative names, self-designations, jocular names and tecnonyms, interfere processes of communication of the body with the world. Nominating implies making bodies and this practice is supplemented by the decoration, affirmation and ritualization of the bodies themselves. The epistemological foundation of this production converges to the postulates of person and personal onomastics. Body, blood, breath and name, regardless of the symbolic order, are the components that inform the person in the Malacacheta village. It is inferred that a personal name or pidian yy goes back to the place that the human body occupies in the vision of the natives, that is, it supposes the polyphonic forms of self-determination that they elaborate by itself, on itself and for itself. Este estudo apresenta uma reflexão sobre as formas antroponímicas de nominação wapichana, com ênfase nas estratégias que os nativos usam na elaboração de um idioma simbólico focal para a pessoa. Trata-se de uma pesquisa etnográfica, cujo objetivo é mostrar como os Wapichana da aldeia Malacacheta, região da Serra da Lua, município do Cantá, estado de Roraima, povo da família linguística Arawak, moldam a percepção de si através de formas simbólicas nominativas, de modo que o corpo pode ser pensado como matriz de símbolos culturais e configura um objeto de significação social. A proposta consiste em problematizar como as formas polifônicas de nominação, ou seja, nomes designativos, autodesignativos, nomes jocosos e tecnônimos enfeixam processos de comunicação do corpo com o mundo. Nominar implica fabricar corpos e tal pratica é suplementada pela decoração, afirmação e ritualização dos próprios corpos. O fundamento epistemológico desta produção converge para os postulados de pessoa e onomástica pessoal. Corpo, sangue, sopro e nome, independente da ordem simbólica, são os componentes que informam a pessoa na aldeia Malacacheta. Infere-se que um nome pessoal ou pidian yy remonta ao lugar que o corpo humano ocupa na visão dos nativos, ou seja, supõe as formas polifônicas de autodeterminação que eles elaboram por si, sobre si e para si.
