The Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (PDBFF) has been studying the effects of forest fragmentation for more than three decades. For this isolated forest fragments experimentally must be reisolated periodically, and these predictable environmental disturbance events and controlled is the key to this work aimed to evaluate the re-isolation of the effects of forest fragments on the structure and composition of fish assemblages in streams of land in the Brazilian Central Amazon. We seek specifically: i) evaluate the re-isolation of the effects of forest fragments on the environmental characteristics of streams; ii) to evaluate the structure of stream fish assemblages in different environmental matrices before and after re-isolation and iii) To assess the ecological stability of stream fish populations subject to re-isolation. Samples were collected in streams four environments (continuous forest, mature secondary, forest fragment and coops) before and after the re-isolation of forest fragments (short term - a month and medium term - six months). The re-isolation of forest fragments affected the environmental characteristics of the streams, however, the structure of fish assemblages (richness, diversity and abundance) did not differ temporally and spatially. The results suggest that fish assemblages can partly withstand to the environmental disturbances resulting from the re-isolation, without departing from an equilibrium situation (resilience). However, we cannot discard the hypothesis that changes in fish assemblages may occur on a larger time scale, compatible with the generational time of stream fishes. Tanto o desmatamento quanto a fragmentação florestal são perturbações ambientais que provocam numerosas consequências já registradas para comunidades de plantas e animais terrestres. Entretanto, os efeitos desses fenômenos são pouco conhecidos em sistemas aquáticos e especialmente para assembleias de peixes de igarapés. O Projeto Dinâmica Biológica de Fragmentos Florestais (PDBFF) vem estudando os efeitos da fragmentação florestal há mais de três décadas. Para isso, fragmentos florestais isolados experimentalmente têm que ser reisolados periodicamente, e esse evento de perturbação ambiental previsível e controlado é a chave para este trabalho que visou avaliar os efeitos do reisolamento de fragmentos florestais sobre a estrutura e composição de assembleias de peixes em igarapés de terra firme na Amazônia Central brasileira. Buscamos especificamente: i) avaliar os efeitos do reisolamento de fragmentos florestais sobre as características ambientais de igarapés; ii) avaliar a estrutura das assembleias de peixes de igarapés em diferentes matrizes ambientais antes e após o reisolamento e iii) Verificar o grau de estabilidade ecológica das populações de peixes de igarapés submetidas ao reisolamento. As coletas foram realizadas em igarapés de quatro ambientes (floresta contínua, secundária madura, fragmento florestal e capoeiras), antes e após o reisolamento dos fragmentos florestais (curto prazo – um mês e médio prazo – seis meses). O reisolamento de fragmentos florestais afetou as características ambientais dos igarapés, contudo, a estrutura das assembleias de peixes (riqueza, diversidade e abundância) não apresentaram diferenças temporalmente e espacialmente. Os resultados sugerem que as assembleias de peixes podem resistir parcialmente às perturbações ambientais resultantes do reisolamento, sem que se afastem de um ponto de equilíbrio (resiliência).
