Resumo:
The Conservation Units (UC) are key to the preservation of biodiversity, to ensure sustainable use of natural resources and development of sustainable activities by the communities. This research was based on author’s personal experience in the Volunteer Environmental Agent Program in protected areas of the State of Amazonas. The historical review was made for the emergence of volunteering in Protected Areas and the first Volunteer Environmental Agent Program in Amazonas started by IBAMA in RDS Mamirauá. Since 2007, the program was taken over by the state government of Amazonas, where it is managed by the State Center for Conservation Units (CEUC) totaling 23 UC and 05 in the process, adding more than 236 agents AAV program. Of these, 84 % are men and only 16% are women with participation concentration of young people between 18 and 37 years old (54 %). To support and strengthen the deployment of the AAV program, it was organized a guide for the deployment process of the program that brings practical procedures for conducting field work for each phase. With the indication of 17 participatory tools, which are closer to the Amazonian ways of life in order to ensure genuine participation of all stakeholders from the community, technicians CEUC, manager of UC and partners.
