Resumo:
Research was carried out on Vibrio cholerae in 41 water samples collected from various locations in the Upper Solimões region, using the Moore mod technique: Tabatinga (Brazil) = 13 samples; Benjamin Constant (Brazil) = 7 samples; Islândia Island (Peru) = 2 samples: Santa Rosa Island (Peru) = 19 samples. There was no isolation of Vibrio cholerae in the water from Tabatinga and Benjamin Constant - Brazil and Islândia sland - Peru. There was isolation of Vibrio cholerae biolype El Tor Serum Group Inaba in 4 (21%) of the water samples collected in 19 different places located on the righi bank of the River Solimões al Santa Rosa Island - Peru. The detected Vibrio cholerae was serologically equal to that responsible for cholera in the Upper Solimões region. The isolation of Vibrio cholerae in water from the River Solimões implies that it was responsible for the dissemination of the bacillus and the disease.
