This species occurs as a shrub or small- to medium-sized tree that grows in the Atlantic Forest of northeastern Brazil. Lecythis ibiriba differs from most species of Lecythis by having seeds with poorly developed basal arils and stalked vestigial stamens that are curved but not swept inward. Morphologically, it is similar to L. lurida; however, differences in the bark, leaves, flowers, and fruits justify its recognition as a separate species. © Torrey Botanical Club. 2020-06-15T21:50:43Z 2020-06-15T21:50:43Z 2012 Artigo https://repositorio.inpa.gov.br/handle/1/17989 10.3159/TORREY-D-12-00035.1 en Volume 139, Número 4, Pags. 447-451 Restrito Journal of the Torrey Botanical Society
