Tropical environmental conditions may restrict the N2 fixation, and demand researches on the effect of essential nutrients in nodulation in legume trees. The objective of this research was to determine which / whom the selected macronutrients influence growth, development, nodulation and N2 fixation in ingá-cipó (Inga edulis) and mulungu (Erythrina fusca) in Red-Yellow Ultisol of Central Amazonia under nursery. The experiment was conducted in Manaus, AM using the missing element technique. The experimental design was completely randomized, with seven treatments and ten replicates, the complete (N, P, K, Ca, Mg) and the omission of N, P, K, Ca, Mg, and a soil without adduction. The formation of Inga edulis seedlings was little influenced by the absence of macronutrients, showing a high capacity of this species to thrive in low fertility soils. Calcium was the element with the greatest influence on stem diameter and along with potassium, the establishment of nodes of seedlings, which effectively responded to inoculation with rhizobia. Calcium absorption was influenced by the availability of nitrogen and phosphorus. The absorption of phosphorus and magnesium were co-dependent since the omission of a negatively affect the absorption of other nutrients. In Erythrina fusca seedlings also there was little influences the absence of macronutrients. On nodulation, potassium and magnesium were most likely have negative effects, considerably reducing the number of nodules, which still showed efficiently to inoculation with selected rhizobia. The interaction being potassium, calcium and magnesium, which was more evident when analyzing the concentrations in the leaves of plants, confirming the antagonism between them. Calcium and magnesium concentrations were the ones that were most affected by the omissions of other macronutrients.
