The concentration-response bioassays were carried out using three distends methodologies Ingestion of treated leaves, contact in treated surface (filter paper) and topical application. Mortality and leaf consumption results were subjected to regression analyses and probit analyses was used to estimate the median lethal values (i.e., LC50, LT50 and LD50). The extract of D. amazonica contains 3.7% of rotenone and was toxic to C. arcuatus when exposed to treated leaves (LC50 = 15.14 μl.ml-1), treated surface (LC50 = 0.45 μl.cm-2) or subjected to topical exposure (LD50 = 1.44 μl.g-1). Mortality levels higher than 80% and lower times were obtained with 5% (v.v-1) of the extract. Leaf consumption by C. arcuatus in the leaf-ingestion bioassay was smaller than in the topical bioassay. In both cases though higher extract concentration led to lower leaf consumption with phagoinhibition taking place at concentrations as low as leaf 1% (v.v-1). The extract of D. amazonica was toxic to C. arcuatus and inhibit its feeding with higher efficiency with ingestion of treated leaves. A abundância e a reconhecida atividade inseticida de Derris amazonica e a necessidade de controle de Cerotoma arcuatus estimularam a realização deste estudo, que teve como objetivo determinar a toxicidade do extrato de D. amazonica a adultos de C. arcuatus. Os bioensaios foram desenvolvidos pelas vias de intoxicação de ingestão de folhas tratadas, contato em superfície tratada (papel-filtro) e contato por aplicação tópica. Os valores de mortalidade e de consumo foliar dos insetos foram submetidos à análise de regressão e, para determinação das CL50, da DL50 e dos TL50, foi utilizada a análise de Probit. O extrato de D. amazônica, contendo 3,7% de rotenona, é tóxico para C. arcuatus via ingestão de folhas tratadas (CL50 = 15,14 μl do extrato.ml-1 de água), superfície tratada (CL50 = 0,45 μl do extrato.cm-2) e aplicação tópica (DL50 = 1,44 μl do extrato.g-1 do inseto). Mortalidades superiores a 80% dos insetos e os menores tempos letais médios foram obtidos pela concentração de 5% (v.v-1) do extrato, em todos os bioensaios. Os valores de consumo foliar efetuado por C. arcuatus no bioensaio de ingestão de folhas tratadas foram menores que os obtidos, para as mesmas concentrações do produto, por aplicação tópica. Em ambos os bioensaios, quanto maior a concentração extrato, menor foi o valor médio de consumo foliar dos insetos, sendo que, inibição da alimentação dos indivíduos foi observada a partir da concentração de 1%.
