For this reason, the present research – “Perception about the environmental problems caused by the removal of ciliary forest in the community of Santo Antônio do Panauarú, Parintins/AM municipality” – was aimed at verifying the perception of the riparians of the Santo Antônio do Panauarú community on the degradation of the riparian forest, as well as to describe the environmental characteristics of the locality in the seasonal periods of flood and ebb of the rivers. Initially the study area was recognized through observation and photographic records, followed by a meeting with the community members to present the project and interviews with the aim of analyzing their perception regarding ciliary forest, its importance, degradation and environmental impacts caused by the absence of this vegetation, and finally an informative talk was held at the community center to sensitize the riparians. Considering the results obtained in the research, we noticed the lack of information regarding the riparian forest and its fundamental importance for the environment. It was also contacted that the local population knows some impacts but did not know if these impacts were caused by the removal of the vegetation, and demonstrated the will to conserve the vegetation so that the benefits provided by it benefits provided by it are rescued. As matas ciliares são degradadas na busca desordenada por áreas produtivas como a agricultura e pecuária. Por este motivo, a presente pesquisa intitulada – “Percepção sobre os problemas ambientais causados pala retirada da mata ciliar na comunidade do Santo Antônio do Panauarú, município de Parintins/AM” - objetivou verificar a percepção dos ribeirinhos da comunidade do Santo Antônio do Panauarú sobre a degradação da mata ciliar, bem como descrever as características ambientais da localidade nos períodos sazonais de enchente e vazante dos rios. Inicialmente fez-se o reconhecimento da área estudada, através de observação e registros fotográficos, seguido de reunião com os comunitários para apresentar o projeto e fazer entrevistas visando analisar a percepção dos mesmos em relação a mata ciliar, sua importância, degradação e os impactos ambientais ocasionados pela ausência dessa vegetação, e por ultimo realizou-se uma palestra informativa no centro comunitário para sensibilizar os ribeirinhos. Diante dos resultados obtidos no longo da pesquisa notou-se a falta de informação em relação a mata ciliar e sua fundamental importância para o meio ambiente.
