Resumo:
This dissertation is a study about the second degree equations in a historical context which aims to give the math teacher of the elementary school (9th Year) or middle school (1st Grade) conditions to instigate the students to raise important questions on the subject, which increases interest and, consequently, improves the learning of the class. This way, this dissertation can offer the teacher in mathematics of elementary of middle school, conditions to clarify some doubts of the students and enrich their practice with the History of Mathematics, in view of their classes can be resignified with the use of some methods solve the polinomial equations of second degree developed along many centuries. This dissertation is too addressed to teachers who work in Elementary School (9th grade) or Middle (1st grade), but will can also be used as a reference by undergraduates at the undergraduate level, especially in the degree courses in Mathematics, for extension of their knowledge about polynomial equations of the second grade and for contribute to the training of future teachers.
