The study was conducted through a literature review, including documentary research. In the case of this work dealt with the documentary research data already processed, seeking information in the EIA / RIMA, the monitoring of each hydroelectric project, in books, journals, loose publications, specialist websites, print media and electronically available on the Internet or in libraries. In the first chapter studies indicate that monitoring, particularly within the Operating Permit, are not being implemented satisfactorily, falling short in several aspects needed and important to a survey, analysis and comparison of this information. In the second chapter the results show that the species of aquatic weeds: Salvinia auriculata, Cyperus spp, Oxycaryum cubenses and Najas microcarpa, were the pioneers in the reservoirs monitored the Tocantins River Basin. Also showed that the ecological types tend to differentiate themselves from the river stage for the reservoir phase, while in the river stage dominated emerging in the reservoir phase space sampling areas for free-floating, submerged, and were giving epiphytes. Thus the systematic monitoring of the process contributes to the development of models to predict the occurrence of macrophytes in reservoirs or other planned initial construction phase. Considerando o aumento do número da vegetação aquática em ambientes alterados pela formação de reservatórios, este estudo analisa informações disponíveis na literatura e em documentos de monitoramento de empreendimentos hidrelétrico visando investigar a evolução dos estudos sobre as macrófitas aquáticas e a possibilidade de utilização dos dados disponíveis para previsão do processo de sucessão em novos reservatórios na bacia hidrográfica Rio Tocantins. O trabalho foi realizado por meio de uma revisão bibliográfica, incluindo a pesquisa documental. No caso desse trabalho a pesquisa documental tratou de dados já processados, buscando as informações nos EIA/RIMA, nos monitoramentos de cada empreendimento hidrelétrico, em livros, revistas especializadas, publicações avulsas, sites especializados, imprensa escrita e eletronicamente, disponibilizada na Internet ou em bibliotecas. No primeiro capitulo os estudos indicam que os monitoramentos, principalmente no âmbito da Licença de Operação, não estão sendo executados de forma satisfatória, deixando a desejar em vários aspectos necessários e importantes para um levantamento, analise e comparação dessas informações. No segundo capitulo os resultados mostram que as espécies de macrófitas aquáticas: Salvinia auriculata, Cyperus spp, Oxycaryum cubenses e Najas microcarpa, foram às pioneiras nos reservatórios monitorados da Bacia do Rio Tocantins. Mostraram também que os tipos ecológicos tendem a se diferenciar da fase rio para a fase reservatório, enquanto que na fase rio, as emergentes dominaram, na fase reservatório as áreas de amostragem foram dando espaços para as flutuantes livres, epífitas e submersas.
