This paper aims to inform about the importance of energy efficiency and its advantages. It discusses the main actions and programs concerning energy efficiency adopted in Brazil, coming from initiatives or support from the Ministry of Mines and Energy - MME. It also intends to study current methods and technologies available for driving electric motors in terms of minimizing their starting currents, as well as the reliability of their installations, thereby increasing assembly reliability, reducing voltage drop in mains, transients and minimization of maintenance expenses. |
