Resumo:
This research seeks to know and record the life stories of the benzedeiros and benzedeiras who work in the Vale Verde Village, in the municipality of Maurilândia-TO. The material collection was done through interviews conducted four people, men and women, between the ages of 40 to 85 years. In the study we use the methodology of qualitative research, with an approach in oral history. This method is inserted in the research because it is a relevant procedure that presents an opportunity to know better the reports and impressions of the research participants. The deponents are simple and humble people and bless those who seek them without any financial charge, just because they believe they have a gift and care about the health of those who need it. The benzedoras are ancient residents of the community, being recognized by the vocation they have in the tradition of blessing. From the interviews it was possible to verify that the benzedura is threatened with extinction in the community, since learning these practices has not been an issue valued by the new generations. In addition, a survey was carried out and recorded on how the learning of the benzedure is acquired, what are the main prayers used, among other factors, trying to understand how the practice of this ritual in the community studied is performed, in order to value this important element of popular culture.
