This research aims to report the experience of working with Memory. Through the
studies of memory, the theoretical-methodological field was defined, mainly from the Oral
History, which made possible the experience in listening to Dona Arlinda, the researcher's
grandmother, and of this narrative to reflect on cultural activities of the popular theater in
Pará, in which She was an active artist in her youth, in the presentations of Bird Junino,
Pastorinhas in the communities where she lived in the outskirts of the city of Belém. Authors
such as Freitas (2001), Pollak (1989), Bosi (2003), Nora helped to reflect on the importance
of memory in studies that value the cultural practices of particular societies. Salles (1994) and
Bezerra (2013) contributed theoretically to history of Pará theater, based on the themes that
cross this research. This process of studies also made possible the experimentation and
creation of two artistic works, as results. In this way, we believe that this research contributes
to think about the encounter between theater and memory, an art that values knowledge,
cultural diversity.
