Resumo:
Cowpea-beans are a basic food for the low-income population, especially in the North and Northeast States. The use of Bacillus subtilis as a growth promoter in agriculture has great potential for increasing the plant's production factors. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of fertilizer/corrective soil associated or not with Bacillus subtilis as a growth promoter of cowpea. The experiment was conducted at the Federal University of Tocantins, in entirely randomized design, with six treatments and four repetitions: Power©, Limestone, Bacillus subtilis, Limestone with B. subtilis, Power© with B. subtilis and Witness. The characteristics evaluated were: length of pods, grains per pod, weight of five pods, vargens per plant, length of root, height of plant, diameter of neck, dry mass of root, mass of one hundred grains and productivity. The data were submitted to analysis of variance using the SISVAR statistical analysis program and significant means were compared using the Tukey test at 5% probability. For production, treatments with soil improvers and in association with Bacillus subtilis obtained better results. The use of isolated bacteria did not show satisfactory results, but as a growth promoter, in isolated it causes instability in the plants, but in association it helps in the greater production, promoting better conditions of plant growth and root development. The use of fertilizer/corrective soils in association with B. subtilis had better results in production, proving to be very promising for productivity and development of the cultivar, since its production will vary according to the correct use of fertilizers and soil correctives
