This paper presents a description of the history, cosmology and
environment of Bananal Island, from the perspective of the Inỹ / Javaé people. It takes as
reference the idea of place with socially constructed space. For this, describes the histories
of the emergence of the Inỹ peoples and how they interacted with each other and with the
environment. Based on Inỹ / Javaé cosmology, it presents how one understands the places
and their histories and the beings that live in these environments. Finally, based on oral
history and cosmology, describes the places of the Javaés River from its inception, when
the Araguaia River splits in two, until when Javaés rejoins the Araguais River. |
