Resumo:
This dissertation results of a research project developed in the Environmental Sciences Graduate Program at Federal University of Tocantins, within the Nature, Culture and Society concentration. It focuses on the ecolinguistic relationships between the Inỹ (Karajá) socio-cultural organization, the environment and the woods used for various purposes, with the aim of strengthening the native language. The study was developed through literature review, field walks and observations, and through conversations and interviews with elders of the Fontoura village in the Bananal Island, State of Tocantins. What kind of changes have had in Inỹ ribe (Karajá language) trough time? This question has encouraged me to develop this research, since I intend to contribute to strengthen the mother tongue of my people, the Inỹ.
