Resumo:
Objective: To evaluate prenatal care in the prevention of vertical transmission of Syphilis, in the state of Tocantins between the years 2014 to 2018. Method: This is a study with a quantitative, descriptive, epidemiological approach, carried out with secondary data provided by the Ministry on two digital platforms. Results: Notifications of 1,165 pregnant women with syphilis were identified; 1,209 cases of congenital syphilis in children under one year old; 21 abortions and 25 stillborn due to syphilis; and 14 deaths from congenital syphilis in the studied period. There was a predominance of brown pregnant women (72.94%), with low education. In cases of congenital syphilis, the majority (89.41%) of mothers performed prenatal care and more than 43% of maternal diagnoses occurred only at the time or after delivery / curettage. One third of syphilis cases during pregnancy were diagnosed in the first trimester. Regarding the treatment scheme for SC cases, only 2.65% of the mothers of the fetuses and 12.74% of their partners did the appropriate treatment. Conclusion: There is a need to implement new strategies and measures to improve prenatal care provided to pregnant women and the consequent reduction in the incidence of congenital syphilis provided and the reduction in abortions and deaths.
