The democratization of communication is a necessary way to offer gender representation and
representativeness. In this sense, journalism has been an instrument for including the gender
perspective in its professional routine and in its daily production. The gender perspective in
journalism, the object of study in this research, allows a broad and fair representation by the
media. The research is based on the following question: the extent to which issues based on
women's rights in the newspaper The New York Times can cross American borders and
reverberate in Brazilian journalistic production, especially on the Universa news platform from
the UOL News Portal. In this research we are interested in studying journalism from a gender
perspective as an action that can have an impact on the advancement of gender equality in the
media. Through content analysis, the reverberations of the gender editorial of the American
newspaper NYT were sought on the Brazilian news platform Universa, from a corpus formed
by selected journalistic texts from In Her Words. After the analyzes carried out on the sets of
texts of each vehicle, it was noticed that there was partial similarities of some aspects analyzed,
while in the analysis of the thematic categories, there was no effective reverberation of the
themes worked by the American newspaper on the Brazilian platform.
