The present research will investigate the intellectual property policy of Universidade Federal
do Tocantins according to the law which regulate theme in the area of the country's science
institutions. The research has the general objective to evaluate the intellectual property
management in the University and propose the implementation of public policy about
technological innovation according to the 10.973/2004, known as "Lei da Inovação" or
Innovation Law. The specifically objectives are the analysis of normative acts, to induce the
project elaboration, evaluate pedagogical projects of Graduate and Postgraduate courses and
collect data from development of inventions. The theoretical reference deals with State,
Public Administration and the administrative decentralization, it also deals with the cycle of
public policy management and the regulation of intellectual property, science and innovation.
This theme is not very investigated in the academic universe justifying and attributing
relevance on this present research. The methodology adopted combined the study of concrete
cases with the analysis of the content about the evidences collected in the management,
operational and academic area that are responsible for the effectiveness of technological
innovation process and the intellectual property policy implementation in the Universidade
Federal do Tocantins.
