The objective of the research was to carry out surveys and superficial bibliographic analyzes
with regard to the mechanisms for fostering the national innovation ecosystem, as well as to
identify and present the mechanisms that foster the innovation ecosystem in the state of
Tocantins, especially business incubators, nuclei innovation and technology transfer and
scientific and technological parks installed in the municipalities of Araguaína, Palmas and
Gurupi. On the national scene, some priorities are discussed in order to reposition the
Amazon and reduce economic and social inequalities in relation to other regions of Brazil,
which directly impacts the performance of the actors of the Tocantins' innovation ecosystem.
A considerable number of actors were identified, objects of the research, working on projects
linked to the Higher Education and Technical Institutions of the State, as well as initiatives
coming from the Government and the productive sector. In addition, the existence and
applicability of municipal and state public policies aimed at strengthening the Tocantins'
innovation ecosystem was investigated. Thus, we realize that the state of Tocantins needs to
seek partnership with the other actors in the state ecosystem and to position itself strategically
to promote an entrepreneurial environment that leverages innovation.
