This work aims to characterize the chain of biogas, coming from swine activity
in western Paraná state, in light of the New Institutional Economics - NEI. We
used an exploratory methodology based on the literature. The theoretical
framework was centered on New Institutional Economics – NEI, in its three
approaches: institutional, organizational and technological environment. The
results showed that, compared to the institutional environment, specific of
biogas, has practically no regulation. Regarding organizations, these are
isolated, with also isolated actions, the highlight for the Centre for the Study of
Biogas, the Itaipu, which is investing in research and extending their knowledge to pig producers in western Paraná. The technological environment is structured
in order to provide resources for the production of biogas, lacking clear and
adequate definitions for surplus production. So what is required for the
expansion of the biogas production in western Paraná are government
incentives in order to adequately regulate the activity and provide incentives for
the production of renewable energy so necessary for today's world. |
