Universities have been increasingly important to
regional development and are being considered a key
factor in this process. Thus, this paper evaluates the
impacts of UNIOESTE (West Paraná State
University) on regional development processes. The
research is based on bibliography sources using the
Theory of Human Capital and Knowledge Economy.
It is stated that UNIOESTE has experienced
formidable growing during the last twenty years since
its foundation and has managed to increase graduate
and post graduate education. Moreover, it has carried
out qualification programmers of its lecturers,
produced patents, increased cooperation agreements
with companies and other universities, both national
and international, educated work force and
consequently fulfilled its purpose to boost regional
development. |
