This report aims to present the research data obtained during the stage carried out in
the project titled Gender Issues and Tourism: the empowerment of the women
involved with the tourist activity in Arraias-TO. The participation of women in the
development of tourism in Arraias was analyzed, based on their work, which is
directly or indirectly linked to the region's tourism activity. Some theoretical reflections
on feminism, women's participation in the labor market and tourism were presented.
The methodology used is the exploratory and explanatory case study, and the
research techniques were based on participant observation, application of forms and
semi-structured interviews. With the results achieved through the research subjects,
we have seen that the work empowers the Arraian women making them autonomous.
In addition, women contributing household expenses participate in decision-making
at home and in society. It is observed that the Arraian women can compose the
scenario of the tourist market in Arraias when developing activities linked to the
events and the services of the municipality. |
