The Sustainable Development established by the United Nations in 2005-2014 is a
period that closes a decade of education and it leads to reflect on the state of
environmental education in our schools. Science is a language that can be conducted
through the Scientific Literacy and as a base, to drive a more effective people
participation in environmental issues, it can be "regarded as one of the dimensions to
enhance alternatives that favor a more committed education" (Chassot , 2003). Thus,
in order to measure the scientific literacy process in class I was selected from the
Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Tocantins, Campus Paraíso
do Tocantins, with the disciplinary Environment matrix combining method and
citizenship, it is observed as a hypothesis an assumption that a normal daily life of
Geography component class combining method and citizenship, which provides the
Scientific Literacy. For this, the research uses qualitative and quantitative analyzes
questionnaires according to the standard arguments by Toulmin (2006). The aim is
also to analyze the knowledge about the nature of science in students. The research
involved the participation of 50% of the students of the first year in 2013 and over
50% of the second year students in 2014, adding to the research 50% of the first year
in 2014, but it also was carried out a comparative study of two teachers. Over the
studies, the students answered to a questionnaire before and after the didactic
sequences, based on scores from various authors, on specific and particular
concepts of the nature in science features, to meet and somehow classify the level
and the progress or not, the students understanding on the scientific world, in the
process. The results compared, have positive reinforcement within the analyzed
whole, moreover, it is evident in the seizure by students of their own speech authority.
Therefore, it is concluded that the theory evolution and the science practice is a slow
process, however, it is necessary and deemed a tight reality, it needs to be improved
continuously, to promote social inclusion and effective participation of citizens in
environmental issues. |
