Resumo:
The objective of this work was to identify socioeconomic clusters in State of Tocantins. To achieve it, quantitative methods were applied, highlighting the calculation of the Moran index. In addition, a bibliographic review of development theories was used, as well as secondary data were collected from official sources, with a view to the treatment of spatial information. The results obtained indicate that the micro-regions of Bico do Papagaio and Jalapão present strong socioeconomic vulnerability, while the micro regions of Porto Nacional and Gurupi show greater development. In addition, it was observed that the regional development in Tocantins was not homogeneous, neither in time nor in space, considering the years analyzed. Thus, the presence of spatial imbalances, both economic and social, was evident. Given the conditions of acquisition of the analyzed data, it is necessary to carry out sampling to verify the most recent changes in the municipalities studied in relation to the proposed socioeconomic indicators. It is also noted that there is a need for evidence-based public policies aimed at promoting more equitable regional development among the regions of Tocantins.
