The walkability analysis allows to characterize the conditions of the environment intended for pedestrians. In the literature, there are multiple categories of analysis composed of various indicators, in order to measure and qualify the walkability of urban roads. It is questioned, therefore, whether different methodologies can lead to different or similar results for the same object of evaluation. In the process of choosing the methodology to measure walkability, it is necessary to know the reality of the environment to be studied, and the process of defining the categories and indicators that will compose this analysis is of paramount importance to portray
the reality of the environment. studied. The general objective of the research is to compare results of aspects of walkability in the East West Avenue - Fourteen, in the north region of Palmas-TO, totaling 2000m of analyzed sidewalks. The aspects identified for the analysis are related to the concepts of pavement conditions and the local mobility of the environment intended for pedestrians. For that, the categories were analyzed: “sidewalk” by the ITDP Brasil method (2018) version of iCam 2.0 and “accessibility” by the method developed by Carvalho
(2018), both related to the pavement conditions; and “mobility” according to ITDP Brasil (2018) and “connectivity” according to Carvalho (2018), related to the characteristics of local mobility. Both methods showed, as a result of the evaluation, the need to improve the environment for pedestrians, in the four stretches evaluated. Therefore, it is concluded that the categories adopted by ITDP Brasil (2018) version iCam 2.0 and the categories adopted by Carvalho (2018) for assessing aspects of walkability led to similar global results, promoting the
expansion of techniques to measure walkability, since both make it possible to know the reality of the environment intended for pedestrians. Analyzing the results obtained, it was possible to identify the improvements that may be used in future actions on the site, such as restoration of specific points of the pavement, insertion of bicycle structure and tactile floor, shelter and rest points, among others. |
