The culture of Soy (Glycine max) has been increasingly important, with Brazil being the largest world producer. Among the challenges that still mark the growth of production are those related to increasing productivity through management techniques. The change in planting density is a widely discussed cultural practice, and its effects on productive characters are still quite misunderstood. This work evaluated the effect of planting density on 25 cultivars submitted to four different population densities, recommended upper and lower limits and with 20% more and 20% less plants on the productive characters: Yield, Grain Numbers per Pod, and Number of pods per plant and weight of a thousand seeds. Among the characters, the productivity and the number of pods did the planting density influence the most; this points to a plastic behavior of the soybean crop. In the higher planting density, cultivars DM 80I79, BONUS, NS 7901, DM 82I78 stood out. In the lower density, the DM 80I79, BONUS, NS 8383, NS 7901, TMG 2303 cultivars stood out.
