This research has as its theme the knowledge and practices of Kalunga community, which
justifies the need to reflect on the preservation of these aspects that have been replaced by
other practices of modern life. The researcher has a Kalunga identity and is a resident of the
Tinguizal Community; then, we intend to maintain the tradition of this people. Therefore, the
general objective of the research is to preserve and register the knowledge and practices of
Kalunga Tinguizal community, in the municipality of Monte Alegre de Goiás, Brazil, through
the narratives of elderly people. As specific objectives, it aims to identify the knowledge and
practices of the community; to reflect on the ways to preserve them in the face of changes
arising from new habits; and to understand the knowledge and practices of Kalunga Tinguizal
community. We conducted an investigation using the qualitative approach and bibliographic
and field research. The latter was structured through the application of an open interview,
under the bias of oral life history, whose data collection techniques occurred in that
community through the narratives of two elderly people. Listening to life narratives is a
methodological tool aimed at valuing the knowledge and practices of Kalunga culture and
representations of subjects. As a result of the analysis of the narratives, we recognized the
importance of valuing and preserving knowledge and practices, as well as young people in
this context as cultural multipliers. In these terms, we emphasize the importance of permanent
dialogue in quilombola communities about their own culture. |
