Resumo:
Cultural heritage is part of and is important not only for an individual or a family, it connects people because it is something collective, such as a shared history, an object, a know-how, a party or a place that many consider important and even other elements that many people in the same group identify with. It is diverse and grand in meaning. Unfortunately, the lack of records leads to oblivion many stories that belong to these cultural references. This happens in many regions of Brazil, especially in its countryside full of memories, but without many documentary records. As is the case of the municipality of Arraias – Tocantins, founded in 1740, whose past is still present in several ways, one of them being the persistence of its old buildings. The lack of record of the history of its cultural heritage was what motivated this work, which aims to raise information about the construction that houses the Museu Histórico e Cultural de Arraias, a cultural reference in the city and region. The methodology adopted is of a basic nature with a qualitative approach to the problem. With regard to the objective, the work uses exploratory research, adopting as methodological procedures the bibliographic research done since the beginning of the concern about the problem presented, thus generating the reason for the present work and which serves as a basis for another procedure used: a survey research, making use of the “IPHAN Participative Inventory”, which is the research instrument responsible for collecting information and histories of the construction that houses the Museu Histórico e Cultural de Arraias. Finally, the methodological procedure adopted throughout the research was the Action Research, since the research acts on the problem of lack of registration of information, providing a solution to the problem pointed out. As a result, we present the forms of the participatory inventory, namely: project form; territory record; interview script form; form of respondents; place card; image report sheet; and the record of the sources surveyed. Thus, it presents the junction of the ancient history of construction with its current history as a museum. The construction became an important place not only for those who lived and attended the place and who have emotional ties, but for the entire Arraias community that, through the creation of the Museum, began to see the place with new eyes. There is an urgent need for effective actions for the preservation and conservation of the construction and it is then up to the government to develop initiatives aimed at valuing, protecting and preserving this and other assets in the city, recognizing this property and its functions as cultural heritage of Arraias and Region.
