Brazil has always stood out worldwide as the country of opportunities and the stimulus to
entrepreneurship, which represents, for thousands of people, the option to have their own
business. Seeking better conditions for these entrepreneurs and offering alternatives to
informality, on December 19, 2008, Complementary Law No. 128 was created, which created
the legal figure of the Individual Microentrepreneur (MEI). In this sense, the main objective
of this study was to identify the existence of entrepreneurial skills in individual
microentrepreneurs, based on the theory of Cooley (1990) adapted by Lenzi (2008), in the city
of. This is a quantitative, exploratory and descriptive research carried out with 68 individual
microentrepreneurs. The instrument used for data collection was a structured questionnaire
composed of 30 questions regarding entrepreneurial skills and 6 multiple choice questions
related to the demographic profile. The result of the study showed that the individual
microentrepreneurs of the city of Porto Nacional - TO have the entrepreneurial profile,
according to Cooley 's theory, because they present a relevant proportion in the persistence
characteristic, they are committed, independent and self - confident people. However, they
