The internet and technological advances in recent decades have transformed the context of
production and consumption of news, leading to changes in the role of professional
journalists. The crisis in the media, with the migration from advertising to digital media, has
also brought reconfigurations of the practice of contemporary journalism, generating the
creation of new business models and new forms of financing - independent and
entrepreneurial. In this regard, one of the great needs that arise is the attention to the teaching
of journalism for professionals who have been graduated in higher education institutions in
the country. The objective is to analyze the entrepreneurial formation of the curricula of
Journalism courses at federal public universities in Brazil. The study was developed from the
search for terms related to entrepreneurship in the syllabuses of the curricular contents in the
40 researched courses. Therefore, an exploratory study, with a qualitative and quantitative
approach, was carried out, using documental research with analysis of curricula and teaching
plans of subjects related to the entrepreneurial theme, to obtain data through the websites of
federal universities. The research also contributes to the main knowledge regarding new
business models in journalism, through bibliographical research on the subject. After
analyzing the curricula, it was found that 84.1% of Journalism courses offer some discipline
with the entrepreneurial theme; among them, 20.5% do not present the subject as a mandatory
curricular component. The result shows a concern of these courses in the modernization of
their curricula and a concern for better training of their graduates for the job market. The
research also points to the importance of working with entrepreneurial principles for the
future of communication professionals and for an economy in full development. |
