Resumo:
This work was carried out to evaluate the nutritional quality of Megathyrsus maximum cv Massai grass harvested at different cutting ages (15, 25, 35, 45, 55 and 65 days). Using a block desing with four replications. It was observed that the dry matter (DM) contents had a linear growth (P<0.05) with age influence, being the highest value at 65 days with 51.10%. Crude protein (CP) content was negatively influenced by age, reaching 5.56% at 65 days. Results of NDF and FDA did not obtain significant results, but with numerical increase due to the advance of forage age. The NIDN variable obtained a negative decrease, having 5.44% at 15 days, reaching 2.42% at 65 days. The values of ether extract (EE) found had significant differences between the treatments observed, with the highest result at 25 days (1.90%) and the lowest result at 65 days (0.35%). Based on the results obtained, it is concluded that the Massai has better quality around 35 days in the period evaluated.
