The entomological collections are deposits of the diversity of the insect fauna, serving as the basis for much research related to the group. Insects (Arthropoda: Insecta) constitute the largest animal grouping on the planet with about one million described species, in Brazil almost 90 thousand species distributed in 30 orders were recorded. Diptera (flies and mosquitoes) are among the four megadiverse orders of holometabolic insects and among them it is one of the best studied. The Tabanidae family is represented by diptera popularly known as horseflies, botucas, tavão, among other names. When compared to knowledge about other insects, tabanids can be considered a well-studied group in Brazil, however little is known about the fauna of Tabanidae do Tocantins, and until then, only 41 species had been registered for the state, a number not significant, as 488 species are recorded for the country. Thus, the Centro de Pesquisas Canguçu Tabanidae Checklist aimed to increase knowledge about the state's tabanidae by identifying the specimens collected over the last decade in an important transition area between the Cerrado and Amazon domains. To this end, the specimens deposited in the UFT Entomology Collection (CEUFT) were individually analyzed in an optical stereomicroscope in order to determine their respective species, these were photographed and each one received a brief diagnosis. We counted 302 specimens, distributed in three subfamilies (Pangoniinae, Chrysopsinae and Tabaninae), four tribes (Scionini, Chrysopsini, Diachlorini and Tabanini), 12 genera, 29 species and two varieties. Only eight species and the two varieties had been previously registered for Tocantins, totaling 21 new records for the state. With this, we updated the Tabanidae records for Tocantins, 62 species are now known. As coleções biológicas são repositórios da biodiversidade de uma localidade, fornecendo bancos de dados essenciais para o ensino, desenvolvimento científico, tecnológico e para segurança nacional. As coleções entomológicas são depósitos da diversidade da fauna de insetos, servindo de base em muitas pesquisas relacionadas ao grupo. Os insetos (Arthropoda: Insecta) constituem o maior agrupamento animal do planeta com cerca de um milhão de espécies descritas, no Brasil foram registradas quase 90 mil espécies distribuídas em 30 ordens. Os dípteros (moscas e mosquitos) estão entre as quatro ordens megadiversas de insetos holometábolos e entre elas é uma das mais bem estudadas. A família Tabanidae é representada por dípteros conhecidos popularmente como mutucas, botucas, tavão, dentre outros nomes. Quando comparado ao conhecimento sobre os demais insetos, os tabanídeos podem ser considerados um grupo bem estudado no Brasil, entretanto pouco se conhece sobre a fauna de Tabanidae do Tocantins, sendo que até então, apenas 41 espécies haviam sido registradas para o Estado, um número pouco significativo, já que são registradas 488 espécies para o País. Desse modo, o Checklist de Tabanidae do Centro de Pesquisas Canguçu visou ampliar o conhecimento acerca dos tabanídeos do estado através da identificação dos espécimes coletados ao longo da última década em uma importante área de transição entre os domínios Cerrado e Amazônia. Para tal, os exemplares depositados na Coleção de Entomologia da UFT (CEUFT) foram analisados individualmente em um estereomicroscópio óptico a fim de determinar suas respectivas espécies, estas foram fotografadas e cada uma delas recebeu uma breve diagnose. Contabilizamos 302 espécimes, distribuídos em três subfamílias (Pangoniinae, Chrysopsinae e Tabaninae), quatro tribos (Scionini, Chrysopsini, Diachlorini e Tabanini), 12 gêneros, 29 espécies e duas variedades. Apenas oito espécies e as duas variedades haviam sido previamente registradas para o Tocantins, totalizando 21 novos registros para o estado.
