This monograph aims at the creation of new urban furniture in part of the Praça dos Girassóis,
located in Palmas-TO, combining thermal comfort, aesthetics, and function. The paper also
discusses the importance of urban furniture in the city, its impact on the vitality of urban spaces,
its history, and analyzes the existing furniture in Palmas-TO. Street furniture has been present
in the history of the population since the beginning of the first cities and today it is part of their
infrastructure, acting in the development and qualification of the public space. The Praça dos
Girassóis, the place where the project will be studied and implemented, is a historical symbol
and the seat of governmental organs of the state of Tocantins, and therefore it is a place of the
traffic of people every day. In this sense, the paper brings the history of the place and its main
characteristics, also makes a survey of the existing urban furniture, and collaborates with the
creation of new urban furniture to better serve the space and the local population and creating
visual identity.
