Objective: to describe the experience of carrying out educational activities, analysis of the
vaccination status and immunization against human papillomavirus (HPV) among students from
the municipal network in the northern region of Palmas-TO. Method: a descriptive study, of an
experience report, developed from the actions of the university extension project "Immuniza
Escola" of the Nursing Course of the Federal University of Tocantins in partnership with four
municipal schools and Health Centers of the Community of Palmas - TO . In schools, extension
workers conducted health education groups on the importance of HPV vaccination and requested
vaccination cards for analysis and immunization. Results: the educational groups were carried out
with 1756 students; of these 440 had the vaccine cards for analysis and 237 had a delayed HPV
vaccination status; 161 were immunized with the first dose and 73 with the second dose of the HPV
vaccine. Conclusion: The experience provided extension agents with the opportunity to experience
in practice the contents taught at the academy, in addition to contributing to an increase in vaccine
coverage and, consequently, a decrease in the number of cancer cases avoided by immunization
against HPV |
