Resumo:
The main objective of this article is to address the perspective of basic education teachers from state schools in Porto Nacional – TO, working in the 2nd cycle of Elementary Education, regarding the pedagogical use of experiments in their classes. Such experiments are understood as auxiliary teaching resources in the approach of geographic themes, such as the influence of natural phenomena on space. In order to collect information from teachers, a semi-structured digital questionnaire was created, with thirteen questions, in order to achieve our goals. Teachers participating in the interview were contacted by telephone, based on a list provided by the Regional Board of Education of Porto Nacional. A total of seven teachers, representatives of seven state schools in the city, answered the questions, whose answers were saved, later transcribed and categorized, finally undergoing analysis and discussion. The results achieved show that the use of experimental practices in teaching Geography is valid and recommendable, as it significantly contributes to the construction of knowledge by students. In addition, it streamlines classes, bringing the student closer to reality through the analogical observation of natural and geographic phenomena in space. On the other hand, there are some challenges to be faced, such as the availability of adequate materials in schools and better training of teachersto carry out this type of activity.
