Resumo:
Femoral fractures in small animals are conditions of great clinical importance and are especially commons in Orthopedics. Long bones such as the femur are usually affected by high-energy trauma over the bones like high-rise falls from, vehicle accidents or ballistic trauma. Femur fractures are also the most common among cats. Additionally, muscle contracture, particularly the quadriceps, can be complicated if the treatment is delayed. This is a report case of a segmental femoral fracture, in which it presents two fracture lines close to the metaphyseal ends and a small fragment in the diaphyseal segment. The aim of this study was to describe all the clinical and surgical procedures performed to approach the fracture in a cat treated at the Clínica Veterinária Universitária da Universidade Federal do Norte do Tocantins, Araguaína Campus.
