Due to the increase in feline adoptions worldwide, it is necessary to deepen the content
related to the breeding, health and behavior of these animals. In view of the scarcity of
studies related to the death of these animals, the present study aimed to carry out
quantitative research on the main causes of death in cats, in a clinic in the western
region of the city of Manaus, collecting data from January to December of 2020, in
addition to a bibliographic review on the theme. According to the results obtained, 36
cats died, with 39% of these deaths considered inconclusive, followed by chronic
kidney disease and trauma, as causes of the deaths of cats with percentage of 13%,
each . Considering the research findings, there is a need to go deeper into the factors
that lead to the death of felines, since having knowledge about them, tutors and
veterinarians can adopt preventive and control measures so that the mortality numbers
decrease.
