The scope of this work is from the perspective of racial understanding, regarding the
appreciation of black people and their culture regarding the treatment given to their history in
the textbook. It will be evaluated in this research if there was the implementation of the
guidelines foreseen by Law no 10.639/03, thus verifying if it is being followed and respected
what the law proposes. Therefore, the methodology used is qualitative, with the focus on
analyzing the image of black people contained in the textbook. In this documentary study, a
history textbook of the 5th year of elementary school from the publishing house Ática was
analyzed in its first edition from 2016 to 2018, composed of sixty-eight pages divided into four
units containing two chapters, written by the authors Maria Elena Siminelli and Anna Maria
Charlier belonging to the National Textbook Program (PNLD), the same is used in a municipal
public school in the city of Tocantinópolis-To. The interest in this theme is justified as a
university student engaged in teaching initiation programs and also as a future teacher. In
relation to the analyzed work, it is considered that the book complies with the requirements of
the legislation. As highlighted in the analysis, there are images that reinforce stereotypes, but
these are historical aspects and it is up to the teacher to draw students' attention to these aspects
in order to deconstruct stereotypes. It was found that in the book there are 355 images. Of these,
only 284 people are black. We consider that they could have more images of black people in
social positions and in more valued professions. Even not meeting our expectations, we
consider that the material analyzed comprises a great advance compared to the scenario prior
to Law 10,639/03. |
