Resumo:
This paper is situated in the field studies of Language Arts, focusing on the proposal and the reflection about the grammar teaching and the process of social interaction through this approach to language in the classroom. With the use of theories that support the discussions on the contributions of teaching practices in relation to the teacher's mediation in the classroom, the research also discusses some grammar concepts and their purposes within education. The article aims to outline mechanisms that contribute to teaching grammar and question the way that grammar has been referenced and used in academic and school concepts. In addition to showing the potential that the teaching of grammar can offer to the students, when they have access to a mediation practice that sees the teaching of grammar as essential. The work is attentive to issues of stigmatization of the use of normative grammar in school reality, which interferes with learning, and doesn’t take the students to mobilize this knowledge to their advantage regarding the interactions in their social spheres. The approaches raised are based on theories and researches by grammarians and language scholars, observed from the educational practices used in schools.
