My work aims at bringing to my TTC a literary and biographical experience that
articulates the writers Rachel de Queiroz and Cora Coralina involving scenes and
dialogues from Queiroz’s characters, as well as anecdotal poems from the work
of Cora Coralina. I needed to know what brought the idea of emancipation in the
writing of each woman, why these aspirations turned them into fearless women,
heroes in their own right, and draw a testimony of their personal struggle for
emancipation and the right to study. When cited in my work, these characters
also challenged the foundation of a conservative era. These were difficult times,
but these difficulties were not an impediment to discourage these fictional women
that inspired equally stubborn real women in their fight for independence. As a
theoretical support, especially in the case of literature in its humanizing function,
I will use Antonio Candido. For information on literature in the classroom, Rildo
Cosson; for gender issues, Simone de Beauvoir and Maria Amélia de Almeida
Teles, and for the presentation of the authors studied, the literary criticism of the
works of Cora Coralina, Darcy France Denófrio, and my advisor, Eleuda de
Carvalho, in an article on Rachel Queiroz for the newspaper O POVO. |
