Reaching the elite of soccer is something that most young athletes aspire to at the
beginning of their careers, and although this sport is considered mostly male, women
throughout history have been able to break the sexist barriers that surround it. The present work
is justified by the sociocultural aspects that permeate the sports trajectory of a professional
soccer athlete, including gender issues and the difficulties faced from initiation to
professionalization. The general objective of the study analyzes the sportive trajectory of an
athlete in professional female soccer. The present study is methodologically characterized by
oral history with a qualitative approach. We conclude that gender issues in women's soccer is
something that is taking root, the support and encouragement is an unquestionable differential,
the school and especially the physical education teacher have a key role in these issues and
professionalization in this sport requires more than what is desired. |
