Resumo:
The main objective of the present work is to analyze the theoretical contribution of the author Clóvis Moura to the understanding of the racial issue in the Brazilian particularity. In order to understand Moura's theoretical and political path, it was necessary to trace the author's life itinerary that revealed questions about his regional and family origin, as well as his approach to Marxism and the anti-racist debate. Through bibliographic research, three relevant works of the author were analyzed: “Rebeliões da Senzala” (1959), “The Negro: from a good slave to a bad citizen?” (1977) and “Radical Dialectics of Black Brazil” (1994). From the examination of these works, it was possible to verify that the categories worked by the author such as full and late slavery, quilombagem and the myth of racial democracy form the central elements capable of revealing the dynamics of racial relations in Brazil, a phenomenon marked by the formation and development of colonial slavery and dependent capitalism, by the self- organized reaction of blacks and also by the attempt of the dominant sector to repel this reaction.
