This paper has as its purpose to analyze and to approach the cognitive development of middle
school students during the classes of Portuguese Language, suggesting methodologies to be
explored by the students, making connections with the formal and informal speech. Also,
trying to comprehend how this development involves what is prescribed by the
ParâmetrosCurricularesNacionais de Lingua Portuguesa (PCN), regarding a deep reflection
over the language. In this tone, the research seeks to bring a practical and theoretical view to
observe the cognitive development.
The project has as subject 9th graders, which are up to 17 in classroom, where a survey was
conducted – including the teacher – meaning to better understand the concept of the cognitive
development. As for the analysis of the results, it classifies this research as quantitative;
intending to detect how Portuguese is used and could be used to enhance the students’
cognitive development, what also can help them with other subjects and the resolution of
conflicts caused by learning difficulties. In this manner, it is highly important to establish the
very necessity of Portuguese language learning to students’ cognitive development and their
real abilities with the language, leaving aside the problematic of working with the normative
and literary use of the language to develop their cognitive skill. |
